My favorite rock band, Imagine Dragons has a popular song called “Radioactive.” Here is the Part of lyrics: “I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus. This is it, the apocalypse. whoa, I'm radioactive…” Samsung’s top managements probably sang this song all the time last year due to Note 7’s battery radioactive curse, which its battery had high tendency to overheat and even catch fire.

Yesterday, August 23rd in New York City, Samsung announced the new large massive screen Galaxy Note 8 and Samsung mobile chief D.J. Koh said “None of us will forget what happened last year. I know I won’t.” Koh was humbled by the loyalty of customers, and bowed on stage as thanks. We can find that Samsung severely focuses on Safety this time. More test on a 3300mAh battery (S8 plus is 3500mAh). Samsung maybe can really cut bad image off with the Note 7 debacle. Here are the major features:

-6.3-inch 18.5:9 aspect ratio

-edge to edge curved full screen

-Quad HD + Super AMOLED

-S Pen support

-163mm x 75mm x 8.6mm

-Samsung Exynos 8895

-Qualcomm Snapdragon 835

RAM & Storage

-6GB RAM, 64GB NAND flash

-Micro SD for expansion, up to 256GB

-Android 7.0, build in ‘Bixby’ AI

-Front: 8MP

-Rear: 12MP Dual-camera with dual OIS, 2x optical zoom

I/O ports

-USB-C, 3.5 audio jack kept

Water resistance

Frame case

-Internal metal frame and glass-backed body

ID recognition

-Fingerprint sensor, but still annoying next to the camera

-Facial recognition

-Iris scan

-3300mAh fireproof battery

-USB-C fast charging and wireless charging

Special features

-Screen off memo

There are several special updates for Note 8. This is Samsung’s first time to adopt dual-camera and to support dual OIS, so it can compete with iPhone 7 or 8. Conservative run android 7.0 but not Oreo (This surprises me). New tech for S pen memo while screen is off. At last but not least, higher safety tests for a small capacity battery.
